About the Art - Waringarri Aboriginal Arts

Waringarri Aboriginal Arts specialises in contemporary collectable art of the east Kimberley. Situated in Kununurra, in the heart of Miriwoong country, Waringarri Aboriginal Arts supports almost 50 artists, proudly employs Aboriginal staff and supports ethical trade practices.

The ochre pigments used by Waringarri's artists present a powerful contemporary aesthetic, interpreting the grandeur of the Kimberley region while restating the importance of each artist's country and knowledge.

The paintings celebrate colour, composition and individualism. Artists comment on the importance of maintaining links to land, culture and traditional stories and on contemporary events and station life. Ochre paintings, limited edition prints, engraved boab nuts, traditional artefacts and didgeridoos can be found at the art centre.
